Are you looking to add some excitement to your guinea pig or Rabbit's life but stuck on what to do? Well look no further, we have the pawfect blog post for you!  Did you know you can create some pawsitively fun enrichment toys using Guineapig Wheekly forages and items you already have at home?

What's the buzz about?

Enrichment toys are a great way to keep your small furry friends entertained and engaged. It's important to get their little bodies moving and minds stimulated for their overall health and well-being, and to prevent boredom. Plus, it's a fantastic way to bond with your pet, by bringing out their personality and playful side as they investigate the creation you've made for them. Who knew a simple toilet paper roll and some hay could bring so much joy?

Making enrichment for your pet at home couldn’t be more easy. It just takes a bit of imagination. Here are some pawtastic ideas to get your creative juices flowing and make your furry friend's day!

Toy 1: Herby hay tube

What you need:

  • Long Cardboard tube from a finished paper towel roll
  • Scissors
  • Guineapig Wheekly (GPW) Timothy hay
  • GPW pea flakes
  • A herb of your choice

(e.g. coriander, parsley, basil, mint)

  1. Using the scissors, cut some holes along and around the long cardboard tube.
  2. Stuff the ends and holes in the tube with some Timothy hay, then a few peaflakes and a bit more hay.
  3. Stick the herbs in the ends and holes of the tube, so that they are just poking out for your pets to nibble on to entice them to investigate their new toy further

Tip : If you don't have a long paper towel roll you could use a few small cardboard toilet paper tubes instead and skip step 1, just stuff with hay, treats and fresh herbs.
